Werner Arend

Werner Arend (born December 24, 1919 in Oldenburg ; † May 16, 2006 ) was a German politician ( SPD ).

After attending primary school, Arend completed an apprenticeship as a machine fitter. After the start of the war he was drafted into the Navy and worked as a ship engineer. After the war he worked as a machine master in the textile industry.

Between 1949 and 1950 Arend studied economics and social sciences at the Academy of Labor at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main . From May 1950 he was managing director of the textile clothing union in the Delmenhorst administrative office .

Since 1961 Arend belonged to the Delmenhorst city council and was in the 5th to 7th electoral period from May 20, 1963 to June 30, 1971 a member of the Lower Saxony state parliament .
