Werner Ballarin

Werner Ballarin (* 1935 in Breslau ; † October 15, 2009 in Berlin ) was a German art historian.

Ballarin received his doctorate in 1976 at the Technical University of Dresden with a thesis on the subject of investigation into the problem of artistic visual language in the field of painting and graphics . He was the initiator of the Kunstverein Neue Chemnitzer Kunsthütte , which was founded in Chemnitz in January 1990 . From 1996 Ballarin was the founding director of the Neue Sächsische Galerie . On November 2, 2000, he was awarded the Saxon Order of Merit for his services to cultural life in Saxony .
