Erik Ivan Bodin (born July 20, 1923 in Sundsvall , † August 29, 1991 ) was a Swedish bandy and football player . The footballer, who was used all over the field in the course of his career and was part of the Swedish national football team for the 1950 World Cup , won two cups with AIK .

Career

Bodin began his sports career at Mälarhöjdens IK . In 1948 "Bodde", as he was nicknamed, moved on to AIK . He represented the club in both football and bandy in the highest Swedish league.

Bodin made his debut for AIK Fotboll in a 3-0 win over IS Halmia in their home Råsundastadion in Allsvenskan and was celebrated as a two-time goalscorer. Since he was mainly called up as a striker in his first season due to his hard shot , he was able to score 14 goals in 21 games of the season and was the club's best internal scorer ahead of Bertil Bäckvall . He also reached the cup final against Landskrona BoIS with the team , which ended with a 1-0 win. In the following years he was often set up defensively and appeared as a defender or midfielder , but was still able to assert himself in the regular formation. In 1950 he reached the cup final again with AIK and was able to defend the title with a 3-2 win over Helsingborgs IF .

Bodin was appointed to the Swedish squad for the 1950 World Cup. During the tournament, however, he was not used and could therefore not contribute to third place in the Swedish selection. He played his only international match on September 2, 1951 in a 3-2 win over the Finnish national team .

Until 1955 Bodin played for AIK Fotboll in the Allsvenskan. After 107 games in which he scored a total of 15 goals, he then ended his active career at the club.
