Werner Hilgers

Werner Hilgers (born March 17, 1939 in Düsseldorf ) is a German ancient historian and museum employee.

Life

Hilgers studied history , Latin and philosophy at the universities of Freiburg and Bonn . After completing the second state examination for higher education, he received his doctorate in 1967 with the dissertation Latin vessel names: names, function and shape of Roman vessels according to the ancient written sources for Dr. phil. From 1968 to 2002 he worked at the Rheinisches Landesmuseum Bonn , most recently as head of department, from 1983 to 1991 he was managing director of the German Museum Association and from 1991 to 1999 its vice-president.
