Werner Jauk

Werner Jauk (* 1953 ) is an Austrian musician and associate professor at the Institute for Musicology at the University of Graz . Jauk is the founder of the platform grelle musik and is active as an artist himself.

Life

Werner Jauk studied psychology , education and philosophy at the University of Graz and graduated in 1980 with a dissertation in the field of music and cybernetics. After that he was a lecturer for experimental aesthetics at the Institute for Valuation Research at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Graz, from 1982 Univ.-Ass. and from 1995 Ass.-Prof. and lecturer for systematic musicology. In 1986 grelle musik was founded, a platform for the realization of experimental forms of acoustic and visual arts. In 2005 he completed his habilitation in musicology with the habilitation thesis "The musicalized everyday life of digital culture" and in 2006 was Ao. Univ.-Prof. at the University of Graz.

Since 1990 he has worked several times at IRCAM . From 1992 to 1996 he was a member of the international jury of the Prix ​​Ars Electronica for the computer music category. His main focus is art and new technologies on the one hand and art and science on the other.

Werner Jauk lives in Graz . His wife Doris Jauk-Hinz is also an artist and co-founder of the platform grelle musik. His two sons Emanuel and Julian are also active as musicians.
