Werner Karg

Werner Karg (born March 16, 1950 in Bregenz ) is a former Austrian politician ( FPÖ ), handball player and real estate agent. From 1994 to 1999 he was a member of the Vorarlberg state parliament .

education and profession

Karg completed his compulsory schooling in Bregenz and then learned the profession of tiler at A. Kempter in Bregenz. He continued his professional career as a tiler journeyman at Knapp and then worked part-time at the Sparkasse building society. He also played as a handball player at FC Dornbirn in the top handball league. For four years he played for the handball club Voest Linz, and he also played in the national handball team. Karg continued his education through various courses in real estate and financing and, after his sporting career, worked from 1980 to 1990 as the person in charge of apartment sales at the Rhomberg company in Bregenz. In 1990 he started his own business as a real estate agent.

Politics and functions

Karg joined the Freedom Party in 1990 and was sworn in on April 27, 1990 as a member of the Bregenz city council. From 1990 to 1995 and from 1999 to 2000 he was chairman of the sports committee and from 1999 to 2005 chairman of the port and health-social-integration committee. In addition, he acted from June 29, 1999 to May 3, 2005 as city councilor for music schools, healthcare and port matters. Karg left the city council of Bregenz on March 14, 2010 after leaving the FPÖ in 2005. Karg represented the Freedom Party from October 4, 1994 to October 4, 1999 in the Vorarlberg state parliament and was area spokesman for sport within the FPÖ state parliament club.

Before leaving the party, Karg was city party chairman of the FPÖ Bregenz from March 19, 1999 to April 2005 and vice-chairman of the FPÖ district party leadership from March 1996 to April 2005. Furthermore, he was a member of the state party executive and the state party leadership of the FPÖ Vorarlberg and a member of the FPÖ district party leadership in Bregenz.

Private

Werner Karg was born as the son of the commercial clerk Eugen Karg from Bregenz and his wife Gertrud. He is married and had a daughter in 1994 and a son in 2001.
