Archduke Franz Karl Salvator Marie Joseph Ignaz of Austria-Tuscany (born February 17, 1893 in the moated castle Lichtenegg , Wels ; † December 10, 1918 in Wallsee ) from the House of Habsburg-Lothringen ( Habsburg-Lothringen-Tuscany line ) was Archduke of Austria and Officer.

Franz Karl was the son of Archduke Franz Salvator from the Tuscan branch of the Habsburgs and his wife Marie Valerie (1868–1924), daughter of the Austro-Hungarian ruling couple Franz Joseph I and Elisabeth . Franz Karl had six sisters and three brothers.

Franz Karl left the military school as a first lieutenant. During the First World War from 1915 to 1918 he served as a lieutenant in the battles against Russia , Serbia and Romania . He lived to see the end of the war and the dissolution of Austria-Hungary , but he was already very ill. Franz Karl died on December 10, 1918 at the age of 25 in Wallsee – Sindelburg. According to his death register, he died at Wallsee Castle of “flu, pneumonia”, the usual term for the Spanish flu , which has claimed deaths in the area since the end of October. He was unmarried and had no children.
