Werner Keller (musician)

Werner "Wieni" Keller (* 29. January 1934 in Zurich ) is a Swiss clarinetist of the Traditional Jazz .

Keller was a trained motorcycle mechanic and taught himself to play the saxophone at the age of 14 . In 1950 he and friends founded the Tremble Kids in Zurich, where he stepped in for the clarinetist shortly after it was founded and then stayed with this instrument. Keller became the band leader. The band had great success in Central Europe, especially from the mid-1950s. In 1956 they made their first recordings. In 1961 he ended his career as a professional musician and ran a retail business. For example, he organized the jazz program at the Casabar in Zurich; from 1971 he played again regularly with the Tremble Kids, who got a record deal from MPS at the time . Since 1985 he has played with the Buddha's Gamblers mainly in the swing style.
