Buddha Scheidegger

Adolf "Buddha" Scheidegger (born May 13, 1940 in Sevelen ; † February 26, 2020 in Zurich ) was a Swiss lawyer and jazz pianist .

Life

After studying law, Scheidegger initially worked full-time at the Zurich District Court as an auditor and clerk before he became a district attorney and public prosecutor and then worked as a chief judge at the Zurich Higher Court from 1989 until his retirement in 2003 . In addition, he was constantly active as a stride pianist . Since 1963 he mainly played with the Gamblers . In 1982 he created his septet Buddha's Gamblers , which also released albums with Danny Moss and Lea Bischof . In addition, he was also with the Swiss Dixie Stompers on tour, performed as a soloist and as a Buddha's Evening on duo with Hans Schläpfer, but also took albums with Beryl Bryden and Piccadilly Six , Benny Waters and the Swiss Dixie Stompers and with Mike Goetz on .
