Werner Koepcke

Werner Koepcke (born July 24, 1912 in St. Petersburg , † September 25, 1976 in Berlin ) was a German civil engineer .

In 1940 he did his doctorate under Franz Dischinger “On the boundary value problem on rectangular plates” and in 1945 wrote the post-doctoral thesis “The calculation of circular cylinder shells under surface, line and point loads”. In 1951 he was appointed to the chair of his teacher Dischinger at the Institute for Reinforced Concrete Construction at the TU Berlin . As a professor, he was known for a strictly mathematical approach. He was also involved as a test engineer in structures such as the congress hall and the Philharmonie in Berlin.

Jörg Schlaich is one of his students .
