Werner Löwe (* 1950 in Dresden ) is a German sculptor and painter .

Life

Werner Löwe grew up in Dresden and after completing school he learned the profession of plasterer, before completing evening studies at the Dresden University of Fine Arts from 1973 to 1975. He then studied plastic at the same university from 1975 to 1980 and completed his studies as a sculptor. In 1981 he moved to Heiligenstadt and became a member of the Association of Visual Artists of the GDR . There he worked alongside his freelance artistic work at the Theodor Storm Literature Museum and the Eichsfelder Heimatmuseum. His works were u. a. exhibited in Dresden, Erfurt, Heiligenstadt, Kassel and Husum.

Works

Well-known works by him in public spaces are the Eichsfeld relief , the sculptures Theodor Storms and Heinrich Heines in Heiligenstadt, the fur traders in Leinefelde, the Storm statue in Hanerau-Hademarschen and the bronze reliefs of Popes John Paul II and Benedict XVI. in the Etzelsbach pilgrimage chapel .
