Werner Nanny

Werner Nänny (born April 4, 1916 in Herisau ; † May 4, 1992 in Basel ) was a Swiss painter, draftsman and graphic artist .

Artistic creation

Nänny was a diverse artist: painter, watercolourist, draftsman and lithographer. Among other things, he has (like other well-known Swiss artists) distinguished himself as a lantern artist for the famous Basel Carnival. In the volume “Weltformat - Basel Contemporary History in Posters” it says about Nänny's work as a graphic artist: “The Wassermann company was founded on July 3, 1897 as Wassermann & Schäublin as by far the largest poster printing company in Basel (...) It owes its good reputation to specialized printers and At the time of lithography, excellent lithographers like the legendary Werner Nänny. ”In 1958 Nänny lithographed original pictures by Pablo Picasso for the poster“ Modern Masters ”of the Beyeler Gallery .
