Werner Orf

Werner Orf (born May 7, 1957 in Heidesheim am Rhein ) is a German former football player and current coach. Among other things, he was active at SpVgg Fürth and 1. FSV Mainz 05 .

Career as a player

Orf played for TSV Schott Mainz from 1963 to 1976 and then joined 1. FSV Mainz 05. There he quickly became a regular player and scored 15 goals as a defensive player in 117 league and cup games from 1976 to 1980. 1980 Orf joined the Spvgg. Fürth, with whom he played in the 2nd division. Here he scored two goals in 38 games from 1980 to 1982 and moved back to Mainz 05 after the 1981/82 season. There he stayed for another four years as a regular before moving to the Hessian national division Spvgg Eltville . He let his career end with SV Wehen from 1989 to 1993 in the Oberliga Hessen.

Coaching career

After his active time, Orf initially worked as an assistant coach at his last club, SV Wehen, and later took on the second team as head coach. Further stations were TSG Wörsdorf , FV Biebrich 02 , again SV Wehen, FSV Winkel, SV Frauenstein and Fontana Finthen. In the winter of 2011/12, the national league club TSV 1881 Gau-Odernheim signed him when they were ranked last after the first half of the season. Orf could not prevent relegation to the district league Rheinhessen. In the summer of 2014 he took over as a trainer for the D-Jugend at SpVgg Eltville. As a result, he also trained the first team of SpVgg Eltville, which he has meanwhile led into the group league. In March 2018, he announced his resignation as a coach of the regional league team. For the 2018/19 season he trains the SV Erbach district league A team.
