Werner Sauber
Werner Karl Sauber, also Philip Werner Sauber (born April 4, 1947 in Zurich ; † May 9, 1975 in Cologne ) was a Swiss filmmaker . He was a member of the terrorist organization " Movement June 2nd ".
Life
Werner Sauber's parents ran a company that produced traffic signs and were wealthy. His older brother Peter Sauber became a racing driver and owner of a Formula 1 racing team.
Sauber began training as a photographer and went to West Berlin in the late summer of 1967 to attend the German Film and Television Academy in Berlin . In 1968 the film The Lonely Wanderer was made . For a time, Sauber lived with Ulrike Edschmid and her child in a shared apartment that was repeatedly searched by the police. Both were detained on suspicion of demonstration crimes, and Sauber went into hiding after his release. He acted in the context of the " June 2nd Movement " and was involved in several bank robberies. At the beginning of 1974 he went to Cologne to organize the resistance in the factories and worked under a false name at Klöckner-Humboldt-Deutz at the stamping machine . On May 9, 1975, at a police checkpoint in Cologne-Humboldt / Gremberg, he opened fire on police officer Walter Pauli , who died on the spot. Werner Sauber was seriously injured in the ensuing exchange of fire and died on the way to the hospital. His friend Karl Heinz Roth was also seriously injured and arrested together with Roland Otto .
