Werner Wolff (conductor)
Werner Wolff (born October 7, 1883 in Berlin ; died November 25, 1961 in Rüschlikon , Switzerland ) was a German conductor and writer.
Life
Werner Wolff was born in 1883 as the son of the Berlin concert agent Hermann Wolff . Until 1928 he worked at the Hamburg Opera together with his wife Emmy Land (1889–1955). In 1938 he fled to the USA , where he founded an opera in Chattanooga , Tennessee. Wolff was also active as a writer, so he wrote a book about Anton Bruckner : Anton Bruckner - Genie und Einfalt. Atlantis-Verlag, Zurich, 1948 (new version by Anton Bruckner - Rustic Genius. EP Dutton, New York, 1942).
