The Wernersche house is a typical middle-class Renaissance - half-timbered house in Hildesheim .

The three-story building on the corner of Hinterer Brühl and Godehardiplatz dates back to 1606 and is named after its builder, the episcopal secretary Philip Werner. The facade is richly decorated with carvings . Four parapet pictures symbolize hope , faith , charity and patience . There are a total of 29 picture panels on the facade.

Building history and current condition

The building remained undamaged in the Thirty Years War . During the bombing raid on Hildesheim on March 22, 1945 , it suffered numerous fire damage, which had already been repaired by 1948. It was completely renovated in 1974 and 2011.

Trivia

In the movie Du mein stilles Tal (1955), the main location of which is Söder Castle , some scenes take place in front of the Werner house with a view of the Hinteren Brühl.
