Wernher der Gartenaere
Wernher der Gartenaere is the name of the Bavarian or Austrian author of the satirical verse tale " Meier Helmbrecht " , created in the middle of the 13th century .
Nothing is known about his living conditions. Due to the nickname, it is assumed that it was a monastery gardener, the owner of a garden or property belonging to the rural middle class, or most likely (as a noun agentis to the verb "garden" = to beg) a traveling singer who wrote his own poetry presented to a literary group for reward.
