The Wertheimerhaus in Eisenstadt , the capital of the federal state of Burgenland in Austria , was built in 1719 and financed by the Esterhazys for the Esterházy family on the merits of the builder Samson Wertheimer (1658–1724) . The two-storey building with a round corner bay is located on the corner of Unterbergstrasse and Alexander-Wolf-Gasse.

history

The palace was acquired by the Wolf family in 1875, who set up the headquarters of the Leopold Wolf's Söhne wine shop in it, in addition to apartments for family members and servants .

The Wertheimerhaus was owned by the Wolf family for 75 years. In 1945 it was acquired by the Burgenland regional association of the Austrian Red Cross .

Todays use

The Austrian Jewish Museum has been located in the Wertheimerhaus since 1979 .
