Wesley Petermann (born March 23, 1994 in Sorocaba , Brazil) is a Swiss fashion designer and entrepreneur who is best known for his eye-catching fur designs. A striking characteristic of Petermann was his hairstyle, which was reminiscent of Marge Simpson and Grace Jones , until 2018 . His fashion is sold under the WISLY label. The company has been based in Leipzig since April 2020 .

Life

Petermann (born in Hudson) grew up as an orphan in Brazil. At the age of three, he and his two brothers were adopted by the Swiss Petermann family.

In his youth he became interested in acting and took his first acting lessons at the age of 15. In doing so, he discovered his passion for self-presentation and his interest in fashion.

He left Switzerland to train as a fashion designer at a private fashion school in Stuttgart. There he had first contact with the material fur and found his passion here. In order to deepen this, he added a completed training as a furrier in Rötha near Leipzig.

At the age of 16, Petermann presented his first designs at his own fashion shows in his Swiss homeland. In 2014 his designs made it to New York Fashion Week. Numerous TV appearances followed on the German TV channels RTL and VOX and on Swiss SRF.

His media presence gave Petermann contacts to music and television stars. In 2016 he outfitted the Swiss musician DJ Antoine for his album "Provocateur". Further arrangements followed for the equipment of musicians, in 2018 with costumes for the music tour of Stefflon Don .

Reviews

Petermann is often criticized by animal rights activists because of his fur fashion. However, according to his own statements, he only uses used furs for his elaborate stage outfits.
