West Atlantic (officially West Atlantic AB (publ) ) is a Swedish logistics group based in Gothenburg . It was created in 2008 from the merger of West Air Europe and Atlantic Airlines (today: West Atlantic UK ). With a previous 40 units, the group owned the largest number of BAe ATP aircraft in the world.

history

While West Air was founded in 1962 and got its current name in 1995, Atlantic Airlines was founded in 1994 as part of the Air-Atlantique Group and became independent in 2001. In 2008 the two airlines merged under the umbrella brand West Atlantic . In 2011 the decision was made to gradually transfer the operational business of West Air Sweden to the subsidiary West Air Luxembourg . In December 2013, West Air Luxembourg was sold to FAST Logistics Luxembourg and renamed Smart Cargo in 2014 .
