West Atlantic UK Limited , until November 2017 Atlantic Airlines Limited , is a British cargo airline based in Coventry . It is a subsidiary of the West Atlantic logistics group .

history

Atlantic Airlines was founded in 1994. It was founded as part of the Air Atlantique Group to specialize in cargo transportation. Atlantic Airlines has been acting independently within the group since July 2001 and is expanding its product range. Atlantic Airlines carries out all maintenance work on its aircraft itself.

Atlantic Airlines Limited was founded in March 2001 when management bought -in the trading company. A full buy-out was completed on May 28, 2004 , in which the management bought all aircraft, spare parts, engines, etc.

The airline's core business is the provision and operation of aircraft on night haulage lines and the implementation of charter flights for freight brokers. Atlantic Airlines has a contract with the UK Maritime Coastguard Agency to provide aircraft for oil spill containment.

The company specialized in the transport of dangerous goods and radioactive material and special work. Atlantic Airlines had a type A operating license from the Civil Aviation Authority , which allowed freight and mail to be transported by plane. She was also a partner in Atlantic Flight Training, which was part of the Atlantic Group.

A Tupolev Tu-204 was temporarily leased from Cairo Aviation and flew on behalf of TNT Express .

In October 2008 it was announced that the Air-Atlantique group will merge with the Swedish-Luxembourg air cargo group West Air Europe under the name West Atlantic . Thus Atlantic Airlines became the property of the new group.

On April 27, 2013, the last cargo flight was carried out with a Lockheed L-188 Electra . The aircraft with the aircraft registration G-LOFC (construction number 1100) was last used for cargo flights of DHL Aviation in Europe. It was sold to Buffalo Airways and has since been used on domestic Canadian cargo flights with the new aircraft registration number C-GXFC.
