TUI Airways (previously Thomson Airways ) is a British airline based in London and based at London Luton Airport . It is a subsidiary of TUI AG and a member of the TUI Airlines group .
history
With the merger of the travel division of TUI AG and the British tour operator First Choice Holidays in September 2007, it was decided in May 2008 to merge the two airlines Thomsonfly from TUI and First Choice Airways from First Choice. The merger began on November 1, 2008 and was completed by May 1, 2009.
At the end of 2012 Thomson Airways presented a new livery for their aircraft. After Corsair International , this company is now also deviating from the overarching design scheme of TUI Airlines .
On May 30, 2013 Thomson Airways received its first Boeing 787-8 to modernize and expand its long-haul fleet .
As it became known in May 2015, in the future all airlines in the group (except for Corsair International, which was to be sold) should appear under the new uniform name TUI . The change was made on the one hand out of marketing considerations , on the other hand, personnel and aircraft could easily be deployed within the entire group in the future.
On October 2, 2017, Thomson Airways was renamed TUI Airways .
Destinations
TUI Airways serves holiday destinations with a focus on Southern Europe and North Africa as well as the Caribbean from several British airports . Other destinations are, for example, the Maldives and Mexico .
