British International Helicopter Services Ltd. is the largest British helicopter operator with a fleet of around 25 helicopters and employs over 100 people. BIH is managed by Rigby Group PLC and is headquartered at Coventry Airport .

history

The company was originally founded as British Airways Helicopters in September 1985 by Robert Maxwell and renamed British International Helicopters (BIH) in 1993, after the Bank of Scotland took over the financing. BWI also provided the pilots and helicopters for the South Wales Police .

In June 2013 the company was acquired by Rigby Group PLC, a subsidiary of Patriot Aerospace , to complement its existing aviation activities.

Until October 31, 2012, BHI also operated the liner service with two Sikorsky S-61 to the second largest island of the Scilly Isles in the United Kingdom, the Tresco Heliport was abandoned. The main business today is the flight service to the offshore fields.
