BA Connect (originally Brymon Airways ) was a British regional airline owned by British Airways , based in London and based at London City Airport .

history

BA Connect was founded in 1970 as Brymon Airways in Plymouth .

In 1993 Brymon Airways was bought by British Airways and merged with British Regional Airlines to form British Airways Citiexpress in 2002 . CityFlyer Express was later integrated into the new airline.

In 2006 the airline was renamed BA Connect. In addition, it switched to a low-cost business model , with the exception of flights to London City Airport. At the time, BA Connect was flying from Birmingham , Bristol , London City Airport and Manchester to European and Inner English destinations.

At the end of 2006 it was decided to sell BA Connect to the large British regional airline Flybe , in return British Airways received 15% of Flybe. In addition, the parent company British Airways took over all Avro RJ100s from BA Connect, which were eventually used by BA CityFlyer . According to some media reports, BA Connect was sold for the symbolic price of £ 1. Others speak of £ 106.

The flights to Scotland caused a lot of concern , but Flybe said it would continue to expand on the routes. A year later, Flybe discovered that the old BA Connect routes were not profitable and so the last flights from Bristol started on March 24, 2007.

aims

BA Connect offered regional and feeder flights to national and European destinations for British Airways on their behalf and branding. A special focus was on London City Airport .
