FlyMontserrat (officially Montserrat Airways Limited ) is a private airline based on the Caribbean island of Montserrat . FlyMontserrat's home airport is John A. Osborne Airport in the north of the island.

history

Flight operations began on December 1, 2009. FlyMontserrat is led by pilot and managing director Nigel Harris. In 1990 he was the founder of Montserrat Airways, which existed until 1996 . He founded his first airline in 1983. Aircraft maintenance is carried out by a certified company in Anguilla . The airline meets all security standards of the British Civil Aviation Authority .

Destinations

FlyMontserrat offers up to five scheduled flights a day to Antigua , Barbuda and Nevis (as of October 2015) as well as charter connections within the Caribbean. In addition to rescue flights performed.

Incidents

On October 7, 2012, a BN-2 of the airline crashed immediately after taking off from VC Bird International Airport . The machine with the aircraft registration VP-MON was on the way to John A. Osborne Airport. Of the four occupants, only one of the passengers survived the accident. The accident was investigated by the ECCAA with the involvement of the AAIB . The main cause of the accident was water in the fuel system, which led to the failure of the right engine during the take-off phase.
