City Star Airlines was a Scottish virtual airline based in Aberdeen . Its flight operations were carried out by the Icelandic sister company Landsflug .
history
City Star Airlines was founded in 2004. It was a British sister company of Icelandic Landsflug , which came into being in the same year. Both companies belonged to the parent company Ice Hydra . City Star Airlines' managing director was Rúnar Fossádal Árnason from Iceland. Operations began on March 28, 2005 with a Dornier 328 on the Aberdeen - Oslo route . City Star Airlines leased the plane from its Icelandic sister company. Further Dornier 328-100 from Landsflug were then rented and added to the company's own fleet.
After a Dornier 328-100 of City Star Airlines got over the runway at Aberdeen Airport on June 22, 2006 , the company suspended operations for a short period of time. As a late aftermath of the incident, City Star Airlines announced on December 10, 2007 that a route had been suspended and 15 employees had been laid off. Nevertheless, it was planned to be able to offer connections between Aberdeen and Houston with a Boeing 757 in January 2008 . The machine should fly in pure business class seating. Delays in the introduction of the new route were announced on December 22nd, culminating in financial difficulties and the final cessation of flight operations on January 30th, 2008.
