Blue Islands is the trading name of the airline AirX Limited , based in St. Peter Port on the Channel Island of Guernsey and bases at Jersey and Guernsey airports .

history

The company was founded in 2001 by Le Cocq's Stores as Le Cocq's Airlink for cargo flights between Bournemouth and Alderney . Regular passenger traffic between these two airports began in 2002. In 2003 the name was changed to Rockhopper (dt. Felsenhüpfer ). The main base was relocated from Alderney to Jersey in 2006 and is owned by the Healthspan Group . In the same year Rockhopper was again renamed the Blue Islands and the first BAe Jetstream 32EP was purchased for the new lines from Jersey and Guernsey to the Isle of Man . In 2007, the route network was expanded to include the connection from Guernsey to Southampton and 108 flights per week between the Channel Islands. Blue Islands also started a regular connection between Jersey and Beauvais near Paris and from Alderney to Brighton .

The connections between the islands have meanwhile been converted to shuttle operation. There is a flight between the islands every two hours. In April 2011 all connections to and from Alderney were closed due to a lack of profitability. A major competitor of the company is Aurigny Air Services .

From May 2015 you will fly on a franchise basis for Flybe . The brand identity will be adapted to that of Flybe.
