Incidents
In the years between 1992 and 2004, a total of four total losses due to accidents were recorded. The most serious occurred on October 14, 2004 in Halifax, Canada. The Boeing 747-244B (SF) with the registration number 9G-MKJ was on the flight Luxembourg-USA-Halifax-Saragossa-Luxembourg (flight number MK 1602). Before the start in Halifax, the overtired crew entered the wrong take-off weights into the on-board computer, making take-off very difficult as the take-off speed was insufficient. When attempting to take off, the rear of the fully loaded machine brushed against an ILS transmitter and an earth wall and broke off. The machine overturned in an adjacent forest and burned out completely. None of the seven crew members survived the accident.
