TUI Airlines Nederland (previously Arke , previously Arkefly ) is a Dutch airline based in Haarlemmermeer and based at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol . It is a subsidiary of the German tourism group TUI and a member of its TUI Airlines group .
history
TUI Airlines Nederland was founded as a charter airline in 2005 , when TUI Nederland took over the bankrupt company HollandExel and integrated it into the TUI Airlines group.
From the 2011/12 winter flight schedule, Arkefly expanded its long-haul service. As a result, the Brazilian destinations Natal and Fortaleza , among others, have been served by Boeing 737-800s since then . Refueling stops are therefore made in Espargos on the Cape Verde Islands on the outward and return flight . The 737-800s with intermediate stops are also used on the connections to Mombasa and Dubai .
In summer 2013, a new color scheme was introduced for Arkefly, which is based on that of the sister company Thomson Airways . As part of this, the lettering (but not the name) was shortened from Arkefly to Arke , as the associated tour operator bears this name.
In April 2014, Arkefly received the first of three Boeing 787-8s on order .
In May 2015 it was announced that all airlines in the group (with the exception of Corsair International ) would appear under the new uniform name TUI . The change was made on the one hand for marketing reasons , on the other hand, personnel and aircraft can be deployed so easily within the entire group.
Arkefly was renamed TUI Airlines Nederland on October 1st, 2015 . The first Boeing 787-8 in the new TUI livery ( aircraft registration PH-TFL ) was repainted on September 25, 2015.
