West Nile Bank Front

The West Nile Bank Front (WNBF) was an armed rebel group in Uganda that fought against President Yoweri Museveni . The group first appeared in 1995 and was under the command of Juma Oris , who was foreign minister under dictator Idi Amin . Taban Amin, a son of the ex-dictator, was allegedly the commander of a WBNF unit.

The WBNF fought against the Uganda People's Defense Force (UPDF) from bases in South Sudan and the Congo in 1997 . Initially, the group recruited their fighters with the promise of generous pay, but soon resorted to forced recruitment through kidnapping. After her last bases in South Sudan were lost in a battle near Kaya , in which the SPLA , the UPDF and various armed groups from the Congo took part, she withdrew to the Congo. Since then, the WBNF has been largely inactive, it was assumed that the Uganda National Rescue Front II (UNRF II) was formed from WBNF rebels during this time.

In 2004, an agreement was signed with the Ugandan government so that the remaining 600 or so rebels from the Congo could return to Uganda.
