The Western Claw ( English for East Claw ) is a steep cliff on Deception Island in the archipelago of the South Shetland Islands . It looms west of the Eastern Claw .
The British geologist Donald Durston Hawkes (* 1934) mapped it in 1961. Polish scientists named it descriptively in 1999.
