The Weteritzer Park is a park in Weteritz , a district of Gardelegen in Saxony-Anhalt .

The park covers around five hectares. On the north-eastern edge of the park is the now unused manor house Weteritz.

There are three ponds on the site, including the source pond, which are fed by the Weteritzer Bach, a tributary of the Milde . The tree population includes species from four continents.

The high-speed line Hanover – Berlin runs along just a little south of the site .

history

The park was established in 1830 as an English landscape garden by the von Alvensleben family . The mansion was built at the same time. The Prussian garden architect Peter Joseph Lenné knew the facility, but did not design it. But it contains elements of his horticultural art. From 1870 the park was expanded several times. One of the owners was Hubert Roth, who also dendrologist was and in the park hemlock planted that grow there today.

In 1973 the park was declared a protected park . In 2014 the condition of the trees was assessed as poor.
