Wetscherni Bishkek ( Russian Вечерний Бишкек ) is a Russian- language newspaper from Bishkek , the capital of Kyrgyzstan .

history

The newspaper first appeared on January 1, 1974 under the name "Wetscherni Frunze". When Kyrgyzstan gained independence in 1991, the newspaper was renamed Vecherni Bishkek, analogous to the renaming of the city. When the newspaper declared the plans of the Kyrgyz President Askar Akayev to run for a further term as unconstitutional in 1999 , assets of Vecherni Bishkek were confiscated, but returned after the March 2005 revolution. In recent years, the newspaper has increasingly relied on the Internet and social networks .

Vecherni Bishkek is currently one of the largest newspapers in Kyrgyzstan. In addition to the classic editorial department, the newspaper has its online editorial department , which Dinara Maslowa manages.
