The weather cross northwest of Wachenheim is a cultural monument from the 16th century. It was set up by Wachenheim winemakers in 1513 and was intended to provide protection from thunderstorms and hail showers coming from the west.

The inscriptions on the cross bar show the names of the four evangelists in Gothic minuscule letters . Below that is the year 1513.

terrain

The area around the cross is now a chestnut forest and belongs to the Drachenfels Club from Bad Dürkheim, which also took care of the maintenance. The Drachenfels Club repositioned the cross in 1906. In 1952 war damage was repaired.
