Weather pillar (Königstein)
The weather pillar in Königstein is a weather pillar in Germany and is located in Königstein im Taunus . It stands as a cultural monument under monument protection .
Weather pillars were set up in numerous locations towards the end of the 19th century. In 1910, the Kur- und Verkehrsverein provided the means to promote tourism in order to build such a weather pillar in Königstein am Taunus. It was decided to use a weather pillar from the Wilhelm Lambrecht company from Göttingen. It is the model III "Tourist", which in 1910 had a price of 500 marks. At the end of August 1910, the column was erected on Herzog-Adolph-Straße, on the edge of a green area.
The column consists of a sandstone plinth that tapers towards the top. There is a metal case on top that holds the instruments (the instruments are no longer original) and a bell roof above. A cardinal point indicator crowns the building.
The column was renovated in 2012 with the support of the Association for Monument Preservation.
