Whipp Island is an uninhabited island in the northern part of the King Sound , an Australian coastal body of water in the Indian Ocean . It belongs to the Kimberley region in the Australian state of Western Australia .

The island is 440 meters long and 140 meters wide. The total area of ​​the island is 3.3 hectares. It is about 5.8 kilometers from mainland Australia.

The island is the third-easternmost island in a five-kilometer chain of islands. The name of the western neighbor island is Pope Island , the eastern neighbor island is called Dove Island .
