White Alice Communications System

The White Alice Communications System ( WACS ) was a tropospheric scatter - and radio - communication system of the United States Air Force in Alaska .

The system was commissioned in 1958 and was replaced by satellite communications in the late 1970s . The last WACS radio station ceased operations in the mid-1980s.
