The WiLL VS ( Japanese : ト ヨ タ ・ ウ ィ ル ブ イ エ ス) replaced the unsuccessful WiLL Vi in April 2001. In contrast to its predecessor, the new model quickly became a sales success. The model was sold in Japan and unofficially in the USA . The WiLL VS had its world premiere in January 2001 at the Los Angeles Auto Show .
Due to the confusing construction, Toyota has equipped the WiLL VS with a so-called radar meter panel , which is similar to the technology of today's reversing radar and the four-stage light from the Chinese Toyota Corolla EX .
The following engines were available until January 2002:
- 1NZ-FE with a displacement of 1496 cm³ and an output of 105 PS (Super ECT with 4 stages)
- 1NZ-FE with a displacement of 1496 cm³ and an output of 110 PS (Super ECT with 4 stages)
- 1ZZ-FE with a displacement of 1794 cm³ and an output of 125 PS (Super ECT with 4 stages)
- 1ZZ-FE with a displacement of 1794 cm³ and an output of 136 PS (Super ECT with 4 stages)
- 2ZZ-GE with a displacement of 1795 cm³ and an output of 190 PS (manual 6-speed gearbox)
In January 2002, Toyota changed the color selection for the WiLL VS . An innovation in the engine selection was the 1NZ-FE with a displacement of 1496 cm³ and an output of 110 hp.
