WiMP (Wireless Music Player) is a paid music streaming service. WiMP comes from Norway , where the parent company called "Aspiro" is based. Aspiro has been owned by rapper Jay-Z since 2015 .
WiMP is available in Norway , Sweden , Denmark , Poland , Germany , Switzerland and Austria . The German branch of WiMP is located in Berlin. Due to the successful introduction in the USA, Canada, Great Britain and in more than 20 other countries, WiMP has been renamed TIDAL since the end of March 2015 .
Functions
WiMP enables paid access to over 25 million music tracks from numerous record labels, as well as a large number of audio books and music videos . The albums and pieces of music in the playlists can be saved offline in the app for WiMP (Download2Go). This means that music can be played on the smartphone even without an internet connection. The number of titles that can be saved offline is unlimited.
In addition, information, reviews and critiques on pieces of music and artists, the song recognition service Shazam and various social media functions are made available.
A transmission speed of at least 256 kbit / s is recommended for WiMP. The HiFi service WiMP HiFi uses Lossless Audio FLAC or ALAC files with a data rate of 1411 kbps . The WiMP software can be downloaded free of charge to a computer, tablet or smartphone and used simultaneously on a maximum of three devices. Recently, WiMP can also be used directly via the browser on any device.
