Wichelhoven House

The Wichelhovenhaus is a listed secular building on Theodor-Heuss-Ring 4-6 in Iserlohn , a town in the Märkisches Kreis ( North Rhine-Westphalia ).

History and architecture

The mighty, stepped brick building with travertine structures was built by Ullmann & Eisenhauer from 1926 to 1927. The symmetrical structure with two staggered floors is structured by the entrance portico and ribbon windows. The strict objectivity is enlivened by decorative elements, such as skylight grille at the entrance and decorative bandage on the eaves . The spacious entrance hall is decorated with a floor mosaic and geometric colored windows. The fountain figure of a listening person stands on a landing. It was designed by Robert Cauer the Elder in 1886 . Ä. made of marble.

The building is used as a publishing house by the Iserlohner Kreisanzeiger and newspaper , among others .

The property is owned by the Wichelhovenhaus Foundation, whose purpose is to maintain the listed building.
