Wichmann (Bir Seba)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Wichmann was titular bishop of Bir Seba . He appeared as auxiliary bishop in the Archdiocese of Bremen and in 1449 in the Diocese of Cammin .

In 1446 he was robbed by Neumark men while staying at the Zehden monastery in Neumark . Letters from the Grand Master of the Teutonic Order, Konrad von Erlichshausen , have been handed down on this incident . At that time, Bishop Wichmann was vicar of the Archbishop of Bremen.

In the diocese of Cammin , Bishop Wichmann was named as auxiliary bishop in 1449, i.e. under the Cammin bishop Henning Iven .

While Bishop Wichmann was still alive on August 16, 1448, a certain Johannes was appointed titular bishop of Bir Seba . But this should not have meant the removal of Bishop Wichmann; rather, the curia has not always been very careful when it comes to assigning the titular bishoprics.
