Wichmann is a relatively small, bowl-shaped impact crater on the western front of the moon in the plane of Oceanus Procellarum , northeast of Letronne crater and northwest of Herigonius .

The crater was officially named by the IAU in 1935 after the German astronomer Moritz Ludwig Georg Wichmann .
