Wide Load Games was an American developer of computer games based in Chicago , Illinois .

history

Wideload was founded in 2003 by Alex Seropian , the founder of Bungie and the spiritual father of the games Halo , Myth: The Fallen Lords and Marathon , and other former Bungie employees after they left Bungie, which has since been incorporated into Microsoft Corporation .

When developing games, the studio relies on a core team that is supported by many external employees in order to be able to work more cheaply and efficiently. The film industry served as a model here .

The first project Wide Loads is the title Stubbs the Zombie in "Rebel Without a Pulse" , a bizarre 3D - action adventure in which the player takes the role of the Zombies takes Stubbs. Rebel Without a Pulse offers black humor, innovative gameplay and a compelling story and relies on a revised version of Halo - Engine . It was in autumn 2005 for Macintosh - and Windows - PCs and Microsoft's Xbox published; Aspyr Media was won as a publisher .

The second project, which is distributed by Gamecock Media, is Hail to the Chimp - a party game in which the players fight in the form of animals for the presidency of the animal kingdom. It was released for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in June 2008 .

In March 2014, parent company Disney announced the closure of the company.
