The film magazine Widescreen (spelling WIDESCREEN, formerly WIDESCREEN VISION ) was a print magazine on the subjects of Blu-ray , DVD , cinema and home cinema technology. Editor of the magazine was Computec Media is based in Fürth .

history

The first widescreen edition appeared on December 11, 2002. Widescreen was the first German film magazine to include a DVD with editorial content and trailers. With the 04/04 issue, these were supplemented for the first time by a complete feature film on DVD. In November 2007 the magazine appeared for the first time under the title Widescreen Vision , after Computec Media had taken over the trademark rights and subscribers of the discontinued magazine DVD-Vision . At the same time, various changes were made to the magazine structure and the rating system. After another redesign of the magazine, it was published again under the title Widescreen since issue 04/10 on the first Wednesday at a price of € 6.90.

With the 07/20 issue, the publisher discontinued the magazine at the same time as the SFT without giving reasons .

content

Each issue was divided into the following categories:

  • Cinema (news, film previews, reviews of all the films of the month, specials, interviews)
  • Blu-ray & DVD (news, big home theater special, DVD tests of various sizes, divided into the segments "New Films", "Archive Productions", "Oldies & Classics", "Series", "Children / Family" and Special interest , occasional interviews)
  • Tech (news, hardware tests and knowledge articles)
  • Forum (various editorial sections, letters to the editor, film history, shop windows with soundtracks, books and games about the film, review, outlook)

The cinema part comprised between 10 and 15 film reviews, depending on the month, as well as further short reviews depending on the number of films that were released in the month in question. The film reports, which range from double-sided to 1/8 page, were partially supplemented by interviews with actors, directors, producers or scriptwriters. The rating was from 1 to 5 stars.

The Blu-ray & DVD part comprised over 100 new releases per month, which were mainly tested for content, technology and bonus material. The film itself, the image quality, the sound quality and the equipment were rated separately in steps of 1 to 5 stars.

The accompanying DVD included one or two feature films as well as an editorial video quiz as well as TV series pilots and current cinema trailers.

At the end of December 2015, the official website merged with the PC Games magazine, which is also published by Computec Media .
