Wiedau (noble family)
Wiedau is the name of a Livonian , now extinct noble family .
history
The Wiedau were a Riga council family, possibly originating from Lübeck , whose lineage begins with Berendt Wiedau († 1646), a citizen and merchant in Riga. His great-grandson Melchior Wiedau (* 1679, † 1740), mayor of Riga, was raised to the knightly imperial nobility in Luxembourg on May 5, 1738 . His grandson Wilhelm Melchior von Wiedau († after 1828), lord of Oselshof, Heinrichshof, Lambsdorfshof and Wittkop, was entered in the noble family register of the Livonia Governorate in 1790 and registered with the Livonian Knighthood (No. 286) on January 12, 1797. In 1915 the sex in the male line expired.
coat of arms
The family coat of arms shows a split shield, in front in red a green willow tree growing out of a green hill (allusion to the gender name), behind in blue a golden lion . On the ( crowned ) helmet with red-silver and blue-gold covers seven ostrich feathers (silver, red, silver, green, gold, blue, gold).
