The Vienna networks GmbH is an electricity and natural gas distribution company and part of Wiener Stadtwerke Holding AG , which is 100% of the city of Vienna belongs.

history

The company Wiener networks emerged in August 2013 from the merger of the three companies Wien Energie power grid , district heating Vienna and Wien Energie gas network . In addition, the primary network lines of Fernwärme Wien and the passive telecommunications network of Wien Energie were integrated into the company. The 2,500-employee company focuses on maintaining the 23,000-kilometer electricity network and the 3,500-kilometer gas network as well as maintaining and expanding the networks.

The Wien Energie Gasnetz site was retained and became the new corporate headquarters of Wiener Netze. After a two-year construction phase, another office complex was built there, the Smart Campus , which was completed in September 2016. The Smart Campus is considered to be the largest building in the world built according to the passive house standard.

Wiener Netze operates a distribution network with a total length of around 30,000 kilometers and conducts natural gas, electricity and district heating for more than two million customers in Vienna , parts of Lower Austria and Burgenland . The company also has 45 substations and 450 gas pressure regulator systems.
