The Österreichische Staatsdruckerei GmbH (OeSD) was spun off from this in 1999 and was privatized in 2000. In 2000, Verlag Österreich , which until then was 100 percent owned by Print Media Austria, was sold and the legislative area of official publications - digital services , which is responsible for public announcements and federal law gazettes, was taken over by Wiener Zeitung . This was spun off from the state printing company in 1998 and is 100 percent owned by the Republic of Austria.

At the beginning of 2001, the remaining Strohal Rotationsdruck GmbH was sold to the Austrian investor group Invest Equity for a rumored price of around 29 million euros and passed on to the Leykam-Let's-Print group in 2005 .

Print Media Austria AG remained the property of the state-owned ÖIAG , but practically no longer carried out any business activities. On June 8, 2001, the assets of Print Media Austria GmbH were transferred to ÖIAG by way of universal succession in accordance with Section 10 of the ÖIAG Act 2000.
