Wienerwaldbahn

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Wienerwaldbahn is the name given to several projected railway lines from Vienna to the western region, to Tullnerfeld , Schwechattal or Gölsental .

description

After the construction of the Westbahn and the Franz-Josefs-Bahn, attempts were made to further develop the transport network in the Vienna Woods area more closely. There were a large number of railway projects for this, some of which were well advanced in the planning. The numerous drafts were postponed again and again due to various circumstances such as the stock market crash in 1873 and ultimately not a single draft was implemented. Only two short branch lines , the Kaltenleutgebner Bahn and the Mödling – Hinterbrühl local line , were realized.
