The Wiesenschmätzer ( Saxicola ) are a genus of the flycatcher family (Muscicapidae).

Meadow gossips are small insect-eating songbirds that populate open areas with isolated bushes and similar structures. The genus is restricted to the Old World with an extraordinarily wide brood distribution ; it does not occur in America .

features

Wiesenschlätzer are small to medium-sized, compact songbirds with a rather short, rectangular tail . Their beak is short and strong with a fairly broad base. The beak bristles are well developed and quite long, the legs thin. The wings are more rounded than pointed. The sexes show different plumage colors .
