The game reserve Khao Soi Dao ( Thai : เขต รักษา พันธุ์ สัตว์ ป่า เขา สอยดาว ) (English Khao Soi Dao Wildlife Sanctuary.) Is a wildlife sanctuary in the district ( Amphoe ) Soi Dao in Chanthaburi province in the eastern part of central Thailand .
geography
It is located 70 km north of the provincial capital Chanthaburi and covers 745 km². It takes its name from the two Soi Dao mountains (literally: mountain that touches the stars ), the 1,670 meter high Khao Soi Dao Tai ( Southern Soi Dao Mountain ) and the 1,566 meter high Khao Soi Dao Nuea ( Northern Soi Dao Mountain ), which are located in the area.
Flora and fauna
More than 85% of the park consists of evergreen rainforest .
The approximately 10 cm large Rana fasciculispina (Thai: ก บอก หนาม , English name: Spiny-breasted Giant Frog) is one of the rare animal species that can be found here.
Sights and activities
The most famous attraction is the Khao Soi Dao waterfall ( น้ำตก เขา สอยดาว ), which falls down the Khao Soi Dao Nuea in 16 steps, the highest step is near the summit and is difficult to reach for inexperienced climbers, the 16th step lies at the foot of the mountain.
